Alton High School

This web page is being provided to give you information regarding your student’s actual grade level status and earned credits toward graduation.  Twenty-two (22) credits are needed in order for your student to graduate from Alton High School.  During the course of the school year, you will receive a progress report quarterly and at the end of each semester.  Along with your student’s current grades in each subject, you may also view the total number of credits they have earned.  It is important to note the number of credits that your student has earned.  This determines their actual grade level.  The following matrix has been provided for you:

Number of Credits Actual Grade Level

0-5.5
Freshman(9th Grade)
5.6-11
Sophomore(10th Grade)
                         11.1 - 16.5                   Junior (11th Grade)
16.6-22
Senior(12th Grade)
The number of earned credits is always located at the bottom of you student’s report card/progress report.  It is important to note, that although it may state that you student is in a particular grade level on the report card/progress report or on general  information year to year, your student’s actual grade level is based on their number of earned credits as outlined above.  For our records and the need to balance grade levels, all students’ grade levels are advanced based on year in school.  Grade level does not determine credit or graduation status.
