Message from the Principal:

Welcome back to the fun-filled, fast-paced, intellectually demanding world of Alton Middle School!  Those of you new to our district … welcome to the largest middle school in Illinois.  We are located on the former campus of Alton High School nestled into the bluffs of Alton and in our third year as a Smaller Learning Community.  This school reform model allows us to create a “school-within-a-school” with learning environments that have appropriate adult/student ratios.
Teachers will be establishing goals for the coming year that will allow for continuous growth.  Last year was a very rewarding year for many and we look forward to building on those accomplishments this year.  We will be reinforcing our programs that support not only the mind, but also the body and spirit.  We are also going to be building stronger connections with the larger learning community as we strengthen the home-school relationship.  Parental support is critical throughout the year.  Please consider attending our Parent Teacher Group meetings the first Tuesday of each month in the Annex cafeteria at 7:00 pm.
Additionally, Alton Middle School endorses a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support concept through universal recognition of desirable behavior and meeting specific classroom expectations.  Through PBIS we have adopted a motto of “Respecting Self, Others and Property” to communicate the expectations of each House.
I hope you share in my sentiments to expand on a climate that promotes academic achievement, attendance and citizenship.  The high expectations we hold for our families and each other help us to create a safe environment suitable for excellence.  Alton Middle School is experiencing success by deepening our relationships with students, families and each other.
Go Jr. Redbirds!
