           Keep busy by doing

           these simple things:

Kindergarteners -

     * Read with someone

     * Using a spiral notebook to make a        

        a summer journal. Write a few

        sentences everyday.   

     * Word family

        what rhymes with _______        

     * Play board games

     * Go to the library - get a library card

     * Have fun!!!!

First Graders-

     * Read !!!!

     * Practice addition and sub.traction math

        facts up to 9+9.

     * Keep a journal - to practice organizing

        thoughts

Second Graders-

     * Read !!!!!

     * Keep a journal

     * Count money

     * Tell Time

     * Practice math facts

Third Graders-

     * Read !!!!!

     * Practice math facts, especially

        multiplication

     * Tell Time

     * Count Money

     * Go to Spelling City to review

       vocabulary and Spelling words.

Fourth Graders-

     * Go to Hayner Library reading program

     * Participate in "Art in the Park" at

        Glazebrook Park

     * Create a scavenger hunt for younger

        siblings or other relatives.

     * Watch a documentary

     * Make a weather chart or graph

     * Plant a graden

     * Keep a journal for vacation or day trip.

Fifth Graders-

     * Read !!!!! Try to read at least 3 books

     * Visit the library and get a good book

     * Practice multiplication tables

     * Visit the museum in St. Louis

        or our own Alton Museum

     * Take a family hike at Marquette Park

             EVERYONE:

  (read books and stories on level)

Go to altonschools.org, then resources,

choose grade level and you will find a

lot of activities for your appropriate age level.

             Our Gators CARE!!!

 

  The Gilson Gators raised $396.20 for

  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! 

A BIG Thank You to all who participated.

        You really make a difference.

                     Woo Hoo!!

Students also collected $467.50

for the relief in Haiti. Along with the $300 contribution from the Parent Group, Gilson was able to submit a check to the American Red Cross

for a total of $767.50
