THEME FOR May - Citizenship
North Elementary PBIS
North Elementary School will promote PBIS through the use of these three rules:
BE RESPONSIBLE
BE RESPECTFUL
BE SAFE
We will model and teach what each of these means.
SCHOOL WIDE SUPPORT:
Star Students - Stars will be given to students in non-classroom settings
who are displaying Star Student traits of being
responsible, respectful and safe. Teachers will make an
attempt to “catch students making good choices”, reward
them with the star cutout, tell them specifically what they
are doing such as, “I like how you are showing respect
for your class mates by waiting quietly for your turn.” Then
the students will give the star to the classroom teacher,
who again will praise the child and display the star in the
classroom. When the class has collected 50 stars, 25 for
special ed. rooms, they will receive a class reward.
When the class reaches their 50 star goal, they will be rewarded. Other rewards will be determined throughout the school year.
All Stars - Drawings will be held each week. The student must have no office
discipline referrals for the week to be eligible for the drawing. Teachers
will be given a coupon on Friday. They will put the name of each student
who did not have an office discipline referral for the week on the coupon.
Coupons will be turned in to the office by 1:00 p.m. each Friday. Students’
names will be called over the loud speaker to come down for a prize.
Shining Stars - Each grade level will choose a student-of-the-month. This
exemplary student will be one who consistently displays
responsibility, respect and safe behavior. Classroom
teachers can take turns choosing a student to represent their
class. These students will receive prizes including a bumper sticker for parents.
